Mini-Split Air Conditioners FAQs

How do I choose a ductless mini split air conditioner?
Like all air conditioners you need to know how many BTUs you need to cool or heat the area you are looking at installing your mini split in. You also need to consider the number of air handles that you will need for your application. Normally one air handler per room is what you would need but, if your home has open areas you may be able to cool multiple rooms with just one multi-zone outdoor unit.

There are many options for types of air vents or handlers that you can purchase. Some sit in the home and are mounted on the walls and some can be mounted in the ceiling. It is important that you talk to a person who is certified to install air conditioning about your options to help you decide which would meet your needs.

What are the pros and cons of a ductless mini split air conditioner?
Ductless Mini split air conditioners are a cost effective choice over central air conditioning. They are typically more expensive than wall or window air conditioners and you will need an HVAC professional to install the unit. Since the compressor sits outside the mini split air conditioners are very quiet and efficient.

How do I install a ductless mini split air conditioner, why do I need a HVAC Professional?
Installing a Ductless mini split air conditioner is more complicated that a window unit but far less complicated than installing central air. A professional will need to run lines for the coolant, electricity, and drainage. You will also need a professional HVAC person to charge it with the right amount of coolants and check for any leaks in your refrigerant lines.

How big will the hole be in my wall?
This slightly varies depending on the unit you buy but, it is generally 2-3/4" to 3" in diameter. If you are keen on DIY projects you can probably do this step yourself before your HVAC installer comes to install your system.

Do I need to purchase tubing?
Yes, you do need to purchase tubing to install your ductless mini split air conditioner. This is what will connect the indoor and outdoor units. The length of the tubing depends on how far the inside unit is going to be from the outdoor unit.

Do some ductless mini split air conditioners have heat?
The short answer is yes. Some ductless mini split air conditioners have electric heat strips and some have heat pumps. For more information on heating options visit our categories page to see all of our options. Most of the systems we currently sell are heat pumps as well as air conditioners however we do have brands that offer different options such as cooling only or heat strips.

What is ductless dual zone and triple zone?
Dual zone means that there are two indoor air handlers and triple zone means there are three indoor air handlers. It is best to get an air handler for each room you are trying to cool, but, if you are trying to cool open areas that consist of more than one room you may be able to use one air handler. Just make sure the BTUs are enough to cover the square foot area of all of the rooms.

General Air Conditioner FAQs

What is the difference between manual and electronic controls?
Basically, this is as simple as a digital display or knobs. Keep in mind that you must have electronic (digital) controls to use a remote control. Most mini split units come with a remote control to control the temperature in the room. This eliminates the need to get up and adjust the temperature on a thermostat as most central units would.

Could you explain the difference from between electric heat and a heat pump?
When a unit says that there is electric heat there is a heat strip in the unit that uses the fan to distribute the heat. Electric heat is meant to substitute an existing heat source.

A ductless heat pump function is similar to an air conditioner however instead of cooling the air like it would in the summer it heats the air and redistributes it into the room. It often will not work when the outside temperature is very cold (except some PTAC units) but, most unit have electric heat as a backup. If heat is very important to you a PTAC unit could be your best choice but, with new innovations in technology some brands have begun to produce mini splits that can operate in heat mode in temperatures as low as -22 degrees. Please look at the air conditioner description or call a ductless air conditioning expert to determine which is best for your application.

What does Energy Star mean?
Energy star is a government backed program that backs products that are extraordinarily energy efficient. Products that meet strict energy efficient requirements determined by the EPA and the US Department of Energy that do not compromise the performance and features of a product receive the Energy Star logo.

What are EER and SEER Ratings?
The Energy Efficiently Rating (EER) is determined by the ductless Air Conditioning and Refrigeration that equals the ratio of cooling capacity in BTUs to the power input in watts. This rating determines the state of the air conditioner when it is up and running.
Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) is commonly used to measure central and ductless air conditioning. All air conditioners must have a SEER rating of at least 15 to be sold in the United States.

What is a chassis and do I want one that slides out?
A chassis is essentially the guts of an air conditioner. When the ductless air conditioner is described as fixed that means that the chassis does not slide out. Air conditioners with slide out chassis are easier to repair especially if the air conditioner is a through the wall air conditioner.

How do I determine the noise level?
All air conditioners will make some sort of noise however the air conditioners on the market have been engineered to be quieter than older units. Mini split air conditioners are the most quiet since the compressor sits outside. Noise levels are measured in decibels (dB). The lower the decibel rating is the quieter the sound is.

What are air flow and output options?
This determines how you can move the vents to position where the air flows in your room. Air deflection means that you can move the vents to the side and up and down manually. Air swing means that the vents move electronically. This function is important if you do not wish to have warm or cool air blowing on a certain spot.

What are fan settings?
Air conditioners come with various levels of setting. Some just come with two settings (on and off) or with more like low, medium, and high. Depending on how quickly you wish to heat or cool your space will determine your fan speed setting.

How do I determine my plug type or how many volts I need?
Your plug type will let you know how many volts you need. You can look at any of our ductless mini split listings to compare your outlet to see how many volts you need and also what type of plug your air conditioner requires. Most of the systems we sell are rated for 110V or 220V connections.

Mini Splits have come as something a bit different than the already existing air conditioning systems in that they are ductless. They don’t require much space because they are not that bulky, your air handler is on the wall instead of inside it, and in addition to that they are not as expensive as other air conditioning systems. They are also really easy to install and give a new design and sense of attraction to your house. Mini Splits make a great addition to any home to fit all of your heating and cooling needs.

The traditional air conditioners have a total of two units; one inside and the other outside, both of these units work together to cool the air and force it through the duct system. In contrast mini splits have multiple units that work together to cool the house. Instead of ducts mini splits have refrigerant lines that run through a single unit that’s outside to each of the additional units inside. The refrigerant lines have got to cool the air and the inside units are meant to distribute this cool air throughout the house. Some houses require only one unit while the others which are larger may require up to 3 or more to cool the entire house. Either way MiniSplitWarehouse has a plethora of options to choose from that will meet your needs.

Due to how mini splits work and are produced it makes the overall cost of mini splits to be much cheaper as compared to the central air conditioning systems. The absence of the ducts and presence of the refrigerant lines make the mini splits very economical. While the traditional air conditioning systems, which use ducts, make it really uneconomical because when the cool air passes through the massive duct system much of the cool air is lost while going towards the register of a particular room. In mini splits the cool air travels through very efficient lines directly towards the target. This makes them not only cheaper to install but also cheaper to easily pay off the electricity bills too as it requires less energy to get the air where it needs to go.

If your home does not have the ability to provide you chilled air inside when you need it, it only takes a little more investigation into minisplits to have a solution for the problem of the summer heat. These are not only be easy to afford but they are also going to add style to your house.

One of the greatest achievements of science is perhaps the introduction of air conditioners and heat pumps which prove to be more useful then anything else in hot or cold climatic conditions. The first air conditioners introduced were the window air conditioners which were very noisy and covered a large space. As the world moves towards a new aspect of advancements in the fields of science and technology we are being introduced to new and extraordinary things everyday. After the window unit came central air conditioning systems. Doesn’t it sound great to have a better substitute for something that’s already amazing? Mini Splits have come as one such great achievement and added more comfort and luxury to our already great world.

Some of the best features of mini splits are that they don’t have any of the typical problems you see with central systems, they don’t produce a lot of noise, they require less space to operate or install, and you don’t need to make huge holes in the walls or open windows in order to install them. There is no energy loss so they are really very economical.

Ductless MINI Split Air Conditioners & ductless Heat Pump products offer wide versatility in solving your cooling and heating requirements. The Indoor unit (evaporator) is mounted inside the room, enclosed in a handsome space saving cabinet. It is connected to the outdoor unit (condenser) via refrigerant lines and inter-unit wiring through a 2 1/2" opening in the wall. Since duct work is not required, installation is simple, fast, and efficient. There is no need to use up window space or cut large openings in walls which could undermine the integrity of your structure and even pose security risks. Since the compressor is located in the outdoor unit the compressor operating volume is virtually eliminated from the indoor unit. The indoor unit has been uniquely designed to provide Whisper Quiet operation while delivering comfort throughout your room(s). In addition, rotary compressors provide efficient, powerful cooling with the lowest noise possible making mini splits a perfect option for people with sensitive hearing or a need for silence.

Features on mini splits can include:

Microprocessor-controlled Operation:

The microprocessor ensures that the temperature and humidity levels in the room are always comfortable.

Wireless Remote Control:

A remote control with an easy to read display gives the user the capability to adjust and set temperature, sweep (louver control), fan speeds, timer, night setback and more, for complete automatic operation.

Dry Mode:

By coupling compressor and fan operation, intermittent operation can be precisely controlled according to room temperature, so that the air is efficiently dehumidified and the risk of mold and mildew growing on the coils of the unit is reduced dramatically.

3 Fan Speeds and Automatic Fan Operation:
Convenient controls can adjust the fan speed to High, Medium or Low according to room temperature to maintain a comfortable airflow throughout the room.

Air Sweep Control:

The air sweep function moves the louver left and right in the air outlet directing air in a "sweeping" motion around the room providing comfort in every corner and eliminating cold or warm spots.

Louver Control:
Louver can be manually set to the desired angle (up or down) by remote.

Automatic Heating and Cooling Changeover:
After setting the temperature and functions you desire you can just sit back and enjoy your comfortably heated or cooled room. If the room temperature is lower than the set temperature, heating operation begins. During normal thermostat cycle operation, cooling and heating operations automatically change in accordance with set temperature, time and room temperature. (Heat Pump units only)

Every year at a meeting dubbed the "Awareness Summit," countless people are exploring new ideas and delivery mechanisms by which the HVACR industry can raise awareness of mini splits and new HVAC technologies in positive ways with target groups. Newer and better technologies are always evolving to provide more comfort and improved health from more efficient equipment, operating at lower cost, and are in harmony with the environment. We have an extraordinary goal of excellence here at MiniSplitWarehouse and we are dedicated to offering you the best and newest technologies in the heating and cooling industry at the most affordable price.

It's cool to care about our customers and the environment, which, we do! There will never be a better time to build on our message of accomplishment with an industry-wide campaign that reminds the world of how our equipment improves your quality of life as well as the environment.

Thanks to comfort cooling, electronic equipment, and throughout the historic stock exchange, flashed data that detailed trading of more than a billion shares on August 9. Cable and TV broadcasts brought the bell closing scene to millions of offices and homes. Within minutes a picture of the event was on the Web site of the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute at www.ahrinet.org.

Fortuitously, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up for a fourth straight day. There was excitement on the floor among the 11 industry representatives as they celebrated shipment of the 130 millionth central air conditioner since the founding of AHRI in 1953.

An astounding 139 million people were estimated to have viewed The Closing BellTM when representatives of the HVACR industry recently ended the trading day at the New York Stock Exchange while standing on a podium before a banner that proclaimed "Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Appreciation Days."

Looking down from 20 feet above the floor of the exchange at hundreds of traders cheering the closing bell prompted thoughts about how things have changed since approximately a century ago when it became one of the first major institutions in American to install air conditioning and only a few hundred people would have viewed the closing.

But what would be the mood in the trading room and how long could heat-sensitive computers function without conditioned air? What would happen to telecommunications equipment without humidity control? How could computer chips be perfected without clean rooms? What would be the impact on productivity if the clock was turned back to the days when temperatures in the 90s emptied offices and factories? How would food and medicine safety and supply be affected without modern refrigeration and refrigerated transport?

Thanks to an infrastructure built up over decades, and the innovative contributions of men and women in our industry who care about improving the quality of life in which people live, work, and play is a vastly different world from a century ago.

Going from a novelty for moviegoers at theaters in the 1920's to modern-day, high-tech manufacturers', clean rooms, glass skyscrapers, and malls, air conditioning is a defining technology. It has transformed America and many parts of the world as we know it today.

In this day and age our contributions are largely taken for granted. With air conditioning available to 83 percent of American households, it is becoming almost as common as water and electricity. You only miss it when the electricity goes off or the unit dies of old age.

I believe the industry would sell more equipment if installers, building owners, and consumers better appreciated our products as well as the people responsible for manufacturing, selling, distributing, installing and keeping up the maintenance of equipment.

The New York Stock Exchange Closing Bell ceremony was a fledgling step toward elevating awareness of the HVAC industry. But a meeting in Chicago last month by an industry-wide group of manufacturers and contractors may have had a more lasting impact.

Mini Split Air conditioners employ the same operating principles and basic components as your home refrigerator. Refrigerators use energy (usually electricity) to transfer heat from the cool interior of the refrigerator to the relatively warm surroundings of your home; likewise, an air conditioner uses energy to transfer heat from the interior of your home to the relatively warm outside environment.

Mini Split Air conditioners cool your home with a cold indoor coil called the evaporator. The condenser, a hot outdoor coil, releases the collected heat outside. The evaporator and condenser coils are serpentine tubing surrounded by aluminum fins. This tubing is usually made of copper.

A heat pump, commonly called the compressor, moves a heat transfer fluid (or refrigerant) between the evaporator and the condenser. The pump forces the refrigerant through the circuit of tubing and fins in the coils.

The liquid refrigerant evaporates in the indoor evaporator coil, pulling heat out of indoor air and thereby cooling your home. The hot refrigerant gas is pumped outdoors into the condenser where it reverts back to a liquid, giving up its heat to the outside air flowing over the condenser's metal tubing and fins.

Throughout the second half of the 20th century, nearly all Mini Split Air conditioners used chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as their refrigerant, but, because these chemicals are damaging to Earth's ozone layer, CFC production stopped in the United States in 1995. Nearly all Mini Split Air conditioners systems now employ halogenated chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) as a refrigerant, but these are also being gradually phased out with most production and importing stopped by 2020 and all production and importing stopped by 2030.

Production and importing of today's main refrigerant for home Mini Split Air conditioners, HCFC-22 (also called R-22), will begin to be phased out in 2010 and will stop entirely by 2020. However, HCFC-22 is expected to be available for many years as it is recovered from old systems that are taken out of service. As these refrigerants are phased out, ozone-safe hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) are expected to dominate the market, as well as alternative refrigerants such as ammonia.

Ductless Mini Split Air conditioners heat pumps (minisplits) make a good retrofit for add-ons to houses with non-ducted heating systems such as hydronic (hot water heat), radiant panels, and space heaters (wood, kerosene, propane). They can also be a good choice for room additions where extending or installing distribution duct work is not feasible or too expensive.

Like any standard Mini Split Air conditioner heat pumps, mini splits have two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit. A conduit which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensate drain links the outdoor and indoor units together.

The main advantages of Mini Split Air conditioners are their small size and flexibility for zoning or heating and cooling individual rooms. Many models can have as many as five indoor air handling units (for five zones or rooms) connected to one outdoor unit. The number depends on how much heating or cooling is required for the building or each zone (which in turn is affected by how well the building is insulated). Since each of the zones will have its own thermostat, you only need to condition that place when someone is there. This will save energy and money.

Ductless Mini Split Air conditioner systems are also often easier to install than other types of mini air conditioning systems. For example, the hook-up between the outdoor and indoor units generally requires only a three inch hole through a wall for the conduit. Most manufacturers of this type of system can provide a variety of lengths for connecting conduits. If necessary, you can locate the outdoor unit as far away as 50 feet from the indoor evaporator. This makes it possible to cool rooms on the front side of a building or house with the compressor in a more advantageous or inconspicuous place on the outside of the building so you do not have to sacrifice aesthetics with function.

Since Mini Split Air conditioners have no ducts they avoid the energy losses associated with duct work of central forced air systems. Duct losses can account for more than 30% of energy consumption for space conditioning, especially if the ducts are in an unconditioned space such as an attic.

In comparison to other air conditioning systems, Mini Split Air conditioners offer more flexibility in interior design options. The indoor air handlers can be suspended from a ceiling, mounted flush into a drop ceiling, or hung on a wall. (Floor-standing models are also available.) Most indoor units have profiles of about seven inches deep and usually come with sleek, high-tech looking jackets. Many also offer a remote control to make it easier to turn the system on and off when it's positioned high on a wall or suspended from a ceiling. Wall mounted thermostat options (or wired thermostats) are also available if you are worried about losing your remote.

Mini Split Air conditioner systems can also help to keep your home safer since there is only a small hole in the wall. Through the wall and window mounted room air conditioners can provide an easy entrance for intruders.

A new type of heat pump for residential systems is the absorption heat pump, also called a gas-fired heat pump. Absorption heat pumps use heat as their energy source, and can be driven with a wide variety of heat sources

Mini split Air Conditioners have two main components: an outdoor unit containing compressor and condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit that contains the evaporator and blower. A conduit, which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing and condensate drain links the outdoor and indoor units. Ductless mini split air-conditioners have numerous potential applications and advantages. They are perfect for those home/business owners that do not have central air conditioning and do not want to settle for the noise, insecurity, and inefficiency of window AC units.

Ductless mini split air conditioning offer higher efficiency and reduced noise without a large hole in the wall or an open window. By separating the compressor and condenser fan from the indoor blower the noisiest components are outside and away from the room. The indoor part of the ductless air conditioner has remote control capabilities and a timer to cycle the system only when needed.

Since mini split air conditioners have no ducts, they avoid energy losses associated with duct work of central forced air AC systems. Duct losses can account for a significant portion of energy consumption for space conditioning, especially if the ducts are in a unconditioned space such as an attic.

Ductless air conditioning offers Higher Efficiency vs. window air conditioning, less noise, and no costly duct work.

Night Setback Mode for Cooling and Heating
Cooling and DRY Mode: With the Night Setback Mode, the air conditioner automatically raises the setting temperature 2°F after 30 minutes, and then another 2°F after the next 30 minutes.

Heating Mode: With the Night Setback Mode, the setting temperature is automatically lowered 4°F after 30 minutes. This saves energy without sacrificing comfort and is ideal for gentle cooling and heating.

Ductless Split Air Conditioner / Mini Split Air conditioners Heat Pump products offer wide versatility in solving your cooling and heating requirements. The Indoor unit (evaporator) is mounted inside the room, enclosed in a handsome space saving cabinet. It is connected to the outdoor unit (condenser) via refrigerant lines & inter-unit wiring through a 3 1/2" opening in the wall. Since no duct work is required installation is simple, fast, and efficient. There is no need to use up window space or cut large openings in existing walls, which could undermine the integrity of your structure, and even pose security risks. Since the Rotary compressor is located in the outdoor unit, compressor operating noise is virtually eliminated from the indoor unit. The indoor unit has been uniquely designed to provide Whisper Quiet operation while delivering comfort throughout the room(s). In addition, rotary compressors provide efficient, powerful cooling at the lowest noise levels in the industry.

For climates with moderate heating and cooling needs, Mini Split Air conditioner & heat pumps offer an energy efficient alternative to furnaces and air conditioners. Like your refrigerator, heat pumps use electricity to move heat from a cool space into a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During heating season, heat pumps move hot air from the cool outdoors into your warm house. During the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. Because they move heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can provide up to 4 times the amount of energy they consume!

The most common type of mini split air conditioner heat pump is the air source heat pump which transfers heat between your house and the outside air. If you heat with electricity, a heat pump can trim the amount of electricity you use for heating by as much as 30% to 40%. High-efficiency heat pumps also dehumidify better than standard central air conditioners resulting in less energy usage and more cooling comfort in those summer months. It is important to note that the efficiency of most Mini Split Air conditioner heat pumps as a primary heat source will drop at low temperatures, generally making them unsuitable for extremely cold climates, although, there are systems that can overcome that problem.

For homes without ducts, Mini Split Air conditioners heat pumps are also available in a ductless version called a mini split heat pump. In addition, a special type of air source heat pump called a "reverse cycle chiller" generates hot and cold water rather than air, allowing it to be used with radiant floor heating systems in heating mode.

Higher efficiencies are achieved with geothermal (ground-source or water-source) heat pumps which transfer heat between your house and the ground or a nearby water source. Although they cost more to install, geothermal heat pumps have low operating costs because they take advantage of relatively constant ground or water temperatures. However, the installation depends on the size of your lot, the subsoil, and landscape. Ground-source or water-source heat pumps can be used in more extreme climatic conditions than air-source heat pumps. Customer satisfaction with these systems is very high.

Mini Split Air Conditioner

The Ductless Air Conditioner systems offer a lower cost option than wasting valuable resources where they are least needed. With these systems, you can add multiple indoor evaporator units where they are needed most. Each unit can heat or cool several rooms, but still uses only the one smaller external compressor. Over the long run, minimizing cooling and heating exposure can realize those tremendous savings we all so desperately need in these troubled times. Wouldn't it be nice to save money and get that comfort you deserve all at the same time? Well, with one of our systems installed, it can be yours!

So, exactly what is a Ductless Air Conditioner system? What makes it different than traditional systems? Basically a system is similar to standard central in that it has a control, and an evaporator. It also has a connected outside condenser unit which provides the compression for providing cooling. This is pretty standard for most climate control systems. "What is a ductless mini split heat pump " it has the ability to be customized for multi zone cooling or heating. Most of us spend the majority of the time in our homes in just a few rooms, such as the living room or the bedroom. With central heating, you are paying to heat and cool a good portion of the house that you may not even be in... certainly not for extended periods of time. With Ductless Air Conditioner Heat Pumps, you can choose to heat or cool only certain rooms, thereby cutting energy use tremendously.

Popular Questions from our customers:

Question: Why is a Mini Ductless Split Air Conditioner system more efficient than a central system?
Answer: The easiest answer is the fact that you loose 30% of your energy cost in your ducts. Having no ducts saves you at least 30% and we haven't begun to consider electrical consumption yet. If we factor in energy consumption you can save 50-60%. Ill explain why, When you compare a 2 ton Central System to a 2 ton (24000 btu) Split  system. First off, your central system requires 2-220v amp disconnects at 30 amps each. A Mini Air Conditioning Unit only needs one 220v 30 amp disconnect. Secondly a central system will draw 20 amps inside and 20-30 amps outside while running meanwhile each component is drawing about 2000 watts each (4000+ watts total). Where as a Ductless Split Unit system will only use 10-11 total amps while running and only use 2000-2500 watts.A considerable difference. Our customers have reported to us a 50% year round savings off their normal energy cost after they switched to strictly non-ducted system.

Question: What size Ductless Split Unit system is right for me?

Answer 1: We need to consider a few things first. What size BTU Needed-
0-300 Sq Feet a 9000 btu would be best for you.
300-500 Sq Feet a 12000 Btu 1 Ton Mini Ductless Split Air Conditioner would be best for you.
500-800 Sq Feet a 18000 Btu 1.5 Ton Mini Ductless Split Air Conditioner
may be best for you.
800-1200 Sq Feet a 24000 btu 2 Ton Mini Ductless Split Air Conditioner
would be best for your application.
we also have 3 ton Mini Ductless Split Air Conditioner, and larger.

Answer 2: Now what size HVAC Split Unit Line set do you need? Well just how far apart do you plan to mount the inside unit away from the outside unit? Depending on this answer you can choose systems  that have 10', 16', or 25'. Anything larger than that you would need your HVAC contractor to just add on what you need they sell most of the items you need at Home Depot or Lowes , Its often cheaper if they provide it at cost rather than buying it a full retail online.

Answer 3: Now the most important! What is your budget? Since we carry so many different brands you can pick and choose a system that may be in more of your price range. Just be sure to factor in the above two variables when making your choice. Daikin Mini Split Prices tend to be on the higher sid.

Question: What is a Mini Air Conditioning Unit?
Answer: Mini Air Conditioning Units separates the compressor from the air handler, making a more efficient and much more quiet of a system. Just like a central, the compressor will sit outside and the air handler will be mounted inside. They will connect together with copper lines and send freon through those lines to one another. "Mini" means its much more smaller than a normal central system. For instance the air-handler is a small wall mounted system that looks very Hi Tech when mounted to your wall (see the product pictures for example).

Question: How much should I expect to pay a contractor to install one of these systems?
Answer: This will vary on the contractor your choose, for example : if you choose a contractor who has 12 trucks, and crews, with allot of overhead his prices will be much higher and most of the time they will not want to install a system that you buy from someone else as they will want to make as much money as they can by selling you the product. In our experience you can find local contractor who would love to have your business by searching on sites like craigslist, the contractors we speak to often charge 50-65 per hour. If you have a simple install it could take them 2-4 hours for a small single zoned system. Or they may want to charge a flat rate like $500, but again you can choose who ever you feel the most comfortable with in pricing and service. If you can try to get them to provide a free labor warranty for at least the same amount of time your parts warranty is. Our customers have reported high costs at Home Depot and Lowes since they have now come into the market.

Question: How long does it take when I order one?
Answer: Normally 1-3 days to process your order. Once on a truck it will take 1-5 days on freight for it to reach you. (Depending on the system you order, they come from different warehouses around the USA) If you order a system that is close to you it will be delivered much faster. You can see on this page the location of most of our brands or just give us a call, we are happy to help.

Question: Is one brand better than another brand?
Answer: No, on our website most of our systems are actually made by the same factory with the same Japanese parts. The quality and warranties are all similar. Some people want to buy systems with a largely known brand like Goodman or Friedrich, or others are more interested in saving money by buying brands like AirCon Or Chigo, as the quality is the same but they are more affordable since the brand doesn't spend multi millions on advertising and overhead.

Question: If I buy these Air Conditioners Online will I still have a factory warranty.
Answer: With the brands we carry, yes. However with York, Hitachi, Samsung, Mirage, LG, Mitsubishi, Carrier, Trane, Toshiba, Sanyo, Lennox, Panasonic, Lowes, Home Depot you have to purchase and have the system installed by their approved contractors- you will not get a factory warranty with their products if you order online. (We know this because we contacted each brand to offer their products to our customers and this is the info they provided.)

Ductless Split Unit Fact: a system consist of an indoor unit, containing evaporator / blower and an outdoor unit containing a brand name compressor (Toshiba, Hitachi, Panasonic, Sanyo, Daikin, Carrier). A copper pipe, which transfers the refrigerant and links the outdoor and indoor unit together. This technology has numerous possibilities. They are perfect for those home, business, warehouse, garage, sun room, hotel, motel, mobile home owners that do not have a central , and do not want to settle for the noise, in-security and in-efficiency of window, wall & P-tac units.

If you struggle with installing and removing window air conditioners every summer and complain about losing the view out of your windows, or the convenience of opening them to fresh , you are not alone in thinking there must be a better way. In fact, there is. It's called wall unit . This technology can be used for heating or cooling and is especially well-suited to homes and businesses built without central systems. It is used increasingly in improvement projects where a porch is enclosed or an attic is converted to bedrooms.

Every building and every situation presents its own problems with climate control. Architects and engineers have realized this for years and they have struggled to adapt - technology to modern living and working demands. Ductless AC and Heat now make the job much easier. These Mini Air Conditioning Systems use no duct work or ducted distribution. Because of that, there are few places where the Mini Air Conditioning Units cannot be installed.

In addition to homes, the systems have been placed in thousands of offices, shops, motels and hotels, schools and universities, computer rooms, banks, hospitals, nursing homes and labs.

They wonder if they will be the system for their needs. If you have any room or building that could use some heating a Mini Heat Pump Air Conditioner system will work for you. We even have customers with tractor trailers, Rv's, Containers, Mobile homes, mobile offices, literally any application. If you currently do not have , or if you have a central system that does not cool well- adding a Ductless Split Unit provides better comfort than a window or wall unit. It is quieter and more efficient and has more cooling capacity.

Instead of using window units, which block windows and can present a security risk, the tiny refrigerant lines and wiring come indoors through a three-inch hole in the wall. When properly positioned, a Multi Unit Air Conditioner indoor units can easily cool an entire house. Unlike central outdoor units, an outdoor unit for a Compact AC Unit is small and quiet. A typical indoor unit is only 32 inches by 11 inches by 7 inches deep and weighs 18 pounds.

Models with built-in filters are often more effective than a central filter for removing larger allergen particles. These systems are also often used for Household Air Conditioners cooling in homes with hot water radiant  (no hot-duct work). Heat pumps are also available for efficient heating in the winter too. These Wall Hung Air Conditioners are called ductless mini split heat pumps because they are similar to a regular ducted central , but on a smaller scale. The compressor unit is located outdoors and a super-quiet cooling unit is mounted high on a wall or ceiling. In addition to the comfort and quiet operation, using Ductless AC and Heat model( with or without central) can save you money.

These units are equipped with hand-held remotes that allow you to cool only certain areas of your house during certain times, which results in big savings on your electric bills. For winter heating, you can choose a heat model, with or without backup electric heat. If you hate that first shot of chilly when the blower starts, select a model with a pre-heater for the room .

For convenience and comfort, models have hand-held remote controls that regulate everything - temperature, louver directions, on/off times, etc. If your area has high humidity, select a model with a dry-mode setting. This adjusts the flow for comfortable, low-humidity indoor. Mini HVAC Units have many functions. These are principally residential, multi-residential, and commercial. Residential is where these systems see the most actions. They have a unit both inside and outside of the building, the inside unit essentially does the , while the outside  unit does most of the hard work. They are joined by a string of wires and tubes to get the electric power and moisture build-up or condensation to and from the inside and outside of the house or office.

In homes that are old, normally these are used because the degree of engineering that would probably be vital on the good old house would either be too much and could ruin the building structurally, or it could just be too highly-priced for the individuals. Duct work and the installation concerned with it is quiet expensive and will require a qualified company to be involved, who will have to run ducts in your home, which unfortunately may possibly take a while. With a Multi Unit Air Conditioner system it will be easier for you to control each room in your house, which is very popular to people who are interested in saving money by not cooling unused parts of their home.

For someone who is leasing or renting out their duplex or multi roomed home, a Duct Free Air Conditioner system is easy to install and much more popular with their tenants. Their tenants can not set their temps to their own personal liking and often makes them a more happy tenant. Some people who own and rent out duplexes often purchase multi zoned systems which allows them to cool off separate rooms and apartments with only using one outside compressor unit. This saves everyone on energy consumption and power supplies.

Private buildings, churches, and offices are becoming more and more interested in these systems as they are easy to put in single offices located inside of the buildings. This makes its much less expensive to control the climate in these large building and is often much more affordable as opposed to purchasing 5 or 10 ton units when you really only use 3 offices inside of the building. Ductless Split Units might be made use of in any way, for personal, adjustable family unit, and private use: Hence if perhaps you are in the market for replacement cooling methods, please take a look at into the Household Air Conditioners systems we offer.

Right now there are many choices on heating and cooling products, but none of them are as popular as the systems we offer. When compared to window, central, portable, or wall units the Compact AC Unit will dominate in energy efficiency. Which is why they have been used around the world for decades and are increasingly becoming more and more popular every day! Why not join the rest of the world and go with a Ductless Split Unit today!

The concept of cooling has been around for 70 years, and they not only cool the area but they dehumidify also. The temp may be ok, but if the humidity is high you will still feel hotter than normal. High humidity caused allot of respiratory problems to older and younger people. If you are working in high humidity your job can seem harder than normal. In addition to cooling and dehumidifying these Duct Free Air Conditioner systems act as filter for the indoor quality, they will increase your indoor quality and create a safe environment for you and your family.

The systems we offer are a better alternative than using portable, window, or wall units. They will save you 30-50% energy off of your normal energy bill if you use those other systems in your house now. Smaller homes are especially in need of energy savings, instead of filling up your windows with systems you can now sleep easy with a permanent install that doesn't take up your window space. These systems are more similar to what you see in a hotel or motel, the main difference is the compressor is separate from the blower creating a silent operation for you to enjoy.

Maintaining the temp in your house is an important thing in these times. The systems we provide not only keep the humidity down, but they maintain the temp and humidity allot better than any window, wall, or P-tac system. With the systems we offer you will see an increase in a cozy temp, and a decrease in your energy consumption. Overall you will be a more happy family, when everyone is comfortable

Mini Heat Pump systems are silent while running, which is a superb benefit if you have little children, difficulties sleeping, live close to neighbors, or love the calmness and noiseless you come to feel like you have earned. These systems might also do zoom control which is superb for the reason that it usually means you do not have to heating or cool the entire vicinity of your home, only the one you are spending time in. There is no reason to heat / cool the full residence if you are only in one room, and this is one of the only style of units that allows you to do this.

It is also fairly practical, as it allows you to regulate the unit on one common box for up to four areas of your home, normally sometimes allowing for you to do so by use of a invaluable remote control which is alot easier to use. For the reason that of zone cooling and heating, this style of unit is likely to help you save you a great deal of money on your residence or office heating bill for the reason that you will not be working with too much electricity.

Reviews on Ductless Mini Split Systems depending on the brand can cost more or less than doing a central system in your home, just know that a Split Unit AC will pay for itself over time, normally within the first year. While small air conditioner heat pump units are ideal for some homes, it is important to look into all the solutions and talk to a qualified hvac contractor before making this very important final decision.

Since these Duct Free Air Conditioner systems have no ducts, they avoid the energy losses associated with duct work of central forced systems.

Duct losses can account for more than 30% of energy consumption
for space , especially if the ducts are in an unconditioned space such as an attic. In comparison to other add-on systems, these systems offer more flexibility in interior design options. The indoor air handlers can be suspended from a ceiling, mounted flush into a drop ceiling, or hung on a wall. Floor standing models are also available. Most indoor units have profiles of about seven inches deep and usually come with sleek, high tech-looking jackets. Many also offer a remote control to make it easier to turn the system on and off when it's positioned high on a wall or suspended from a ceiling.

Mini Air Conditioning Units can also help to keep your dwelling safer since there is only a small hole in the wall. Through-the-wall and window mounted room air-conditioners can provide an easy entrance for intruders. Expect to pay less for Shinco, Friedrich, Klimaire, AirCon, Pridiom, YMGI, Goodman and Mr. Whisper than other brands. Contractors say they are cheaper to buy. Installation costs may also be lower because contractors say that Shinco is less selective about its authorized installers than other manufacturers are. If you buy one of the Shinco brands, some critics indicate that you are more likely to get high quality installation if you choose a dealer that also sells a more expensive brands like Friedrich.

If you live in a development where multiple houses have the same floor plan, your neighbors may be the most accurate guide to good prices. Make sure bids include all costs, including any government fees (such as permits) and disposal of the old unit. Manufacturers themselves don't reveal estimated installed costs. Experts agree that prices vary by region, and possibly even within a region. Experts estimate that within a product line of otherwise identical central s, the price difference between a 13 SEER model and a 16 SEER model is about $500. Product quality may not have a lot to do with prices.

HVAC contractors with 50 years experience, maintains "As far as quality and brand go many expensive big name brands are the same as an economical cheap priced unit, even made on the same assembly line." That doesn't mean you receive no benefit for paying more. We cover a number of those benefits below. A higher Price may also net a better warranty. Most central s have ten-year limited warranties on the compressor and five-year limited warranties on all other parts. Judging from many owner posts in forums, manufacturers do not cover labor costs in their Prices. Contractors usually offer one-year warranties on the installation. Some offer lifetime warranties as a marketing tool.

How is Ductless AC and Heat different than central air?
The amount of cold entering the room can he controlled by a thermostat or it can be regulated by an infra-red remote control, like a TV remote. One room or one area of a building can maintain a different temperature from another room or area in the same building. In a central system, refrigerant is pumped from the outdoor condenser coil indoors to a single indoor coil from which cooled is distributed to each room through a system of ducts. In many houses and businesses, the amount of cold in one room cannot be regulated without changing the temperature of every room in the building. This technology can be used for heating or cool and is especially well-suited to homes and businesses built without central systems. It is used increasingly in improvement projects where a porch is enclosed or an attic is converted to bedrooms.  Every building and every situation presents its own problems with climate control.

Architects and engineers have realized this for years and they have struggled to adapt technology to modern living and working demands. Mini Air Conditioning Systems now make the job much easier. HVAC Split Units are not normally sold directly to consumers. They must be installed by licensed contractors. Pricing is a package deal, which includes the labor, permits and whatever else is needed for your installation. Prices vary radically, depending on both the quality (or efficiency) of the and how much labor is needed. Installation and related costs are usually going to cost more than the system itself.

Electric AC Unit: It is among the most essential electronic appliances used in homes and offices. These units control the temperature effectively to a comfortable level and are used in most of the countries. It is considered essential in countries with hotter climates and are used for both domestic and commercial purposes. There are different types of it. Though all of these serve the same purpose of cooling the atmosphere, some of the units are more efficient and useful compared to the others. The use of it is known to accelerate the amount of electrical units consumed but nevertheless, it is widely used by majority of the people. In fact survival is difficult in countries with hotter climates without the use of these cooling units.

Knowing the Various Types of Units, it is known by different names according to its specific features. Some of the units have two parts or components which can be placed indoors and outdoors. In the early days, it was considered as a luxury but with the rise in temperature,it has become an essential item. Some of the different types of it include the Split air conditioner heat pump AC, Window AC, Portable AC, Mini Air Heater AC and so forth.
