"This is the second AC system I have installed. I don't like oversized units so I bought the smallest unit, 24K BTU I thought would work for my 1300 sq ft house. The flared connections were nice to work with, no brazing. I cut the 25' lineset to fit so I did need to re-do the flares on the cut end. I torqued all four fittings and ran a pressure test to 300 psi. No leaks the first time. So far, it is only March, we have only experienced the heat side but it works well. The indoor AHU is much quieter than the gas furnace it replaced. We hitched it up to a Nest controller which means we threw away the remote control and 24V thermostat that came with the unit. Too bad about that. The outside unit see to have a mind of it's own, but very intelligent. Fan ramps up and down as necessary, pump too I suppose. In heat mode the outdoor unit comes on early to warm up the inside coil before the air comes on. I am looking forward to at least a decade of comfort in the Southern California climate."
